The growth of saffron depends a lot on the type of climate in the region because saffron grows in autumn and winter and in the summer it is dormant or resting. Therefore, areas with very cold winters cause slow growth of saffron, and areas with high rainfall and humidity in summer also cause damage to saffron bulbs.
As a result, northern and southern provinces such as Gilan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Bushehr, Hormozgan, etc. are not suitable for saffron cultivation. Suitable provinces for saffron cultivation are Khorasan, Razavi, South Khorasan, North Khorasan, Isfahan, Yazd, Kerman, Hamedan, Qazvin, Lorestan and Semnan. It is Lorestan and Semnan.
